Membership
Form (PDF file)
Membership in the Montreat Scottish Society
shall be open to any individual or family that enjoys Scottish
people, customs, places, traditions, and history, regardless of
their own ancestral background.
In 1980, the society was formed for the purpose of
promoting interest in and support of Scottish traditions and
fellowship among its members and friends.
All members are encouraged to "wear the
tartan" at all of the activities, whether it is a full kilt
or merely a piece of tartan or clan crest pinned on their shirt.
However, the wearing of anything tartan is not required in order
to participate in any of our activities, which include:
an annual Kirkin' o' the Tartan Worship Service held in Montreat
on Memorial Day Sunday;
participation in the annual Montreat July 4th parade;
providing tents at the annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games
and Loch Norman Games, as gathering places for our members while
they enjoy the games;
annual Robert Burns Tea in February:
occasional social gatherings throughout the year.
An annual contribution of at least $15 per person or
$25 per family is greatly appreciated to defray mailing costs and
to support our various activities. But any amount may be donated.
To join, please fill in (print clearly) and return
the Application for Membership to the Montreat Scottish Society,
PO Box 414, Montreat, NC 28757, with a check enclosed. The
Application for Membership is available as a Adobe Acrobat PDF
file (the software Acrobat Reader is available free from www.adobe.com).
Thank you. |
